What is Veras? An Introduction to the AI Visualization Tool

You may have heard the news… EvolveLAB has joined Chaos! 🎉

…which means that tools like Veras will soon become more tightly integrated with our existing products, like Enscape. (We’ll share more information on this as soon as possible!).

So, in the meantime, let’s get to know Veras and see how it can help you with early-stage ideation and creating AI-generated rendered concepts.

What is Veras?

Very simply, Veras is an AI visualization tool that can take your existing model or sketches and provide you with multiple design ideas—very fast. It's ideal for ideation and generating fast AI-rendered concepts, which you can share with colleagues and clients for early design feedback.

What does Veras integrate with?

Veras is a plugin for popular design environments including Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Vectorworks, and Archicad. It works with your existing project files on Windows and Mac. There is also a web-based version which you can upload your sketches and images to for further ideation and concept refinement.

How does it work?

The Veras plugin uses generative AI to take your model as a substrate and provide alternative design options and realistic conceptual renders. You can input descriptive prompts that guide Veras into applying specific styles, materials, lighting, and environmental settings to your model.

It is very malleable and easy to control through a natural-language, text-based prompting system, and a few intuitive sliders. Additionally, even more control is available through a selective generation mode—meaning that you can choose to edit/re-generate only certain parts of your image with a unique prompt.

An active internet connection is required for both the Veras plugin and the standalone web app.

Key Veras features

Geometry Override Slider

Increasing the Veras geometry override slider to High will give you the boldest of ideas, allowing you to explore design options that go beyond your model's original geometry.

However, If you do not want Veras to suggest changes to your model’s geometry, you can move the slider all the way down to Low. Your geometry will be retained, but you will have the option to see and refine materials.

Render Selection

The Render Selection is a cutting-edge feature in Veras that enables you to select a portion of your image, redefine your vision with a new prompt, and then see it rendered. It’s that easy! If you’re an interior designer wanting to swap out some furniture, or an architect aiming to fine-tune certain parts of a building, you can easily make precise changes in real time.

Render Same Seed

Once you have uploaded your model into Veras, you can enter a prompt and see multiple design ideas appear within seconds.

If you want to lock in a particular result but change just one or more elements, you can enable the Seed toggle. Now you can adjust your prompt, click render, and the majority of the rendered result will stay the same, except for the elements you requested to change.

See how it works in this short demo.

Out-of-the-box Presets

Veras comes with a range of pre-designed presets, enabling you to implement set styles and visual effects to your renders quickly. These default presets allow you to create AI-generated renderings more efficiently, translating your ideas into reality with minimal effort. There is also a search function for added convenience.

Web app

Upload your image or sketch to the web-based version of Veras, and you can see it transform into a realistic render and easily explore further design ideas. The web app provides access to the same functions and tools that are available with the regular plugin. No CAD/BIM software or installations required!
